VOIP Phone System
The phone system at NASA Headquarters uses an advanced technology called Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). VoIP utilizes a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (analog or ISDN) phone line to transfer data between two parties, allowing HQ to realize cost savings and system efficiencies while offering advanced features to users. The system is composed of desktop phones, softphone, and Cisco CallManager (CCM). With these technologies combined, the HQ phone system allows you to access your voice mail remotely, as well as place and receive calls from your desk phone number (202-358-xxxx) when working off-site on your NASA-issued laptop. |
