Leave Your Windows Computer “On” For NCAD Migration – Monday, July 13, 2009
HQ users scheduled for migration to NCAD
July 9, 2009
You are scheduled for migration to the new NASA Consolidated Active Directory (NCAD) on Monday, July 13, 2009, after 6 p.m. Please mark your calendar or affix a note to your monitor to remind yourself of this date. If you have a schedule conflict, please send an email to HQ-DL-NCAD-POC within 24 hours to request that your migration be rescheduled.
In order to migrate successfully, you must restart your computer and leave it powered-on the evening of your migration date. Laptops must be in their docking station.
1) From the Start menu, choose “Shut down”
2) In the drop-down box under “What do you want the computer to do?” choose “Restart”

3) Click OK. You do not need to wait for the computer to finish restarting before you leave the office. It’s important that you do NOT turn off the power to the computer!
Occasionally, migration attempts do fail. A leave-behind flyer will be left on your chair to inform you if your migration was successful or not and to provide any instructions you may need. If you have more than one Windows computer, please follow these instructions for both computers. You will receive 2 leave-behind fliers, one for each computer, informing you of the success of both migration attempts.
If you use Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) or Encrypted File Systems (EFS) encryption software, please contact the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) for further instructions and information about other encryption options. PGP requires a desktop appointment to be restored after migration. EFS files cannot be accessed or restored after migration and must be unencrypted and re-saved prior to migration.
More information about this Agency project is available on the NCAD@HQ Web page, including a Frequently Asked Questions document.
Should you need assistance, please call the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) at 358-HELP (4357) or 1-866-4NASAHQ (462-7247) or send an e-mail.
