Early Adopters Needed for Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC)
IT POC's
June 12, 2008
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has mandated adoption of the Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) on all NASA Headquarters Windows XP computers. FDCC standardizes the operating system and browser settings on Windows XP computers, and removes administrative rights from user accounts. NASA must show 85% compliance with FDCC by July 31, 2008.
The Information Technology and Communications Division (ITCD) is recruiting volunteers from all organizations to field test the FDCC settings. These early adopters will be joining ITCD, HITSS and ODIN who are already testing the FDCC. We need Headquarters user participation to help us anticipate and prepare for any possible disruption to the Headquarters community prior to Headquarters-wide deployment.
This is an excellent opportunity for users who are concerned about the compatibility of their applications to test them, receive focused attention, and solve reported problems. If necessary, early adopters will be temporarily backed out of the FDCC requirement until problems are fully resolved.
Please send a list of approximately 10 recommended users in your organization to Scott.Oglesby@nasa.gov by COB Monday, June 16. Our goal is to involve users with varying requirements so our test will represent a cross section of NASA Headquarters.
