Issues With Television Reception at NASA HQ – June 4-5, 2009
NASA HQ IT POC’s
June 5, 2009
When: Friday, June 5, 2009 – Expected Resolution 3:30 p.m.
Why: Digital television transition has many stakeholders, operating on their own schedule
Users Affected: All users
The nation is switching from analog to digital television (DTV) broadcasting, with all work to be completed by end of day Friday, June 12, 2009. Some individual TV channels are apparently switching to digital signals early, in anticipation of the national deadline of June 12, 2009.
NASA HQ began to experience picture clarity and missing channels yesterday as a result of some early cutovers. Washington Cable has come to NASA HQ to temporarily convert the new digital channel lineup back to the original analog channel lineup, thus restoring service. Current issues are expected to be resolved by 3:30 this afternoon, Friday, June 5. Any additional early cutovers will be dealt with as they occur through our agreement with Washington Cable. Additional information about the DTV transition is forthcoming.
