Office 2007 Upgrade – Deployment Window May 25, 2009 – June 5, 2009

You are scheduled to receive the Microsoft Office 2007 upgrade during the deployment window May 25, 2009 – June 5, 2009. Please review the information provided in this notice to properly prepare for your upgrade.
Back Up Your Data
It is important that you perform a desktop backup prior to upgrading to Office 2007. You may take advantage of the automated backup service by leaving your computer connected to the HQ network overnight, or perform a manual backup on your own.
Installation Options
You will have two options for installing the Office 2007 suite:

Download and install, at your convenience, via the Software Refresh Portal (SRP)
- Receive overnight push via Systems Management Server (SMS)
If however, you have not installed the Office 2007 upgrade by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3 , you will automatically receive the upgrade during a mandatory daytime SMS push. This will entail a minimum 1 hour work stoppage.

Software Refresh Portal (SRP) Installation
Beginning Monday, April 13, you may visit the SRP at http://hqsms2k3\srp to install Office 2007. Prior to installation, save your work and close all applications. See complete instructions at http://www.hq.nasa.gov/itcd/documents/Office_2007_SRP_Instructions.doc. You will have until COB of Friday, May 29 to use the SRP deployment method.
SMS Overnight Installation
If you decide not to participate in the SRP deployment method, Office 2007 will be deployed to your computer via automated SMS push beginning at 8 p.m., Friday, May 29. RESTART your computer prior to leaving on any night beginning Friday, April 17 through Tuesday, june 2. SMS Daytime Installation
If you decline to participate in both the SRP deployment and overnight automated push between Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 21, a daytime automated push will be performed. This daytime automated push can happen anytime between Wednesday, June 3 and Friday, June 5 . This will entail a minimum 1-hour work stoppage while Office 2007 is being installed on your computer. The Microsoft Office 2007 suite is a major overhaul of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access. Office 2007 has a different look-and-feel. There are many new application features and a new user interface called the "Ribbon." Many icons and commands that you have grown accustomed to have moved and will work differently in Office 2007.
You will be provided with a Microsoft Office 2007 upgrade package to include quick reference guides, compatibility tips, and more.
