NED Replaces X.500 Directory

The NASA Enterprise Directory (NED) is an Agency-wide online employee information directory.  It is the primary storage location for all Centers’ directory information and should be considered the most reliable source. NED is replacing the X.500 Directory and makes it easier to get contact information for your NASA colleagues.   The data contained in the NOMAD Global Address List (GAL), which is part of our e-mail system, is obtained from the NED.

Updating Your Directory Listing

You are responsible for initiating updates to your directory listing if you move offices, change phone numbers, or find an error.  The procedure you should follow to accomplish this varies according to which data elements need to be modified and whether you are a civil servant or a non-NASA employee.  See How to Update Employee Information in the NED for explicit instructions.  

Note that changes to your legal name, organization ID, job title, and/or Center designation may take up to 2 pay periods to be reflected in the GAL and the NED.
