Significant Planned IT Outages This Weekend – April 25-27, 2009

The following services will be impacted during multiple outages occurring this weekend:

HQ IT Maintenance Outage – April 25
When: Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (8 hours)
Why: The HQ Network Operations Center (NOC) is upgrading HQ’s internal computer network to improve speed.
Users Affected: All Headquarters users
All HQ applications and Web sites, print and fax services, and Internet access will be unavailable from within the Headquarters building on an intermittent basis during this 8-hour outage.
Remote access services (Virtual Private Network (VPN), Secure Nomadic Access (SNA), and Dial-up services) will also be unavailable.

E-mail / NOMAD Services Outage – April 25-26
When: Saturday, April 25, 2 a.m. – Sunday, April 26, 11 p.m. (45 hours)
Why: Facilities maintenance is necessary to support mission critical systems at Marshall Space Flight Center.
Users Affected: All Headquarters users
You will not be able to send or receive e-mail or meeting notices through Outlook/Entourage; Outlook Web Access (OWA); Treo, BlackBerry, or Mobile Windows devices; or Citrix during this 45-hour outage. E-mail messages sent during the outage will be queued and delivered once the servers are back online.
Mobile phone service will not be affected.
NOTE: This outage will not affect VIP and HSPD-12 associated users or critical users. Accounts for these users have been moved to the JSC server.

NASA Enterprise Applications Outage – April 24-27
When: Friday, April 24, 7 p.m. – Monday, April 27, 7 a.m. (72 hours)
Why: The NASA Data Center (NDC) will require a complete power outage to their facilities while team members perform building facility maintenance at Marshall Space Flight Center.
Users Affected: All Headquarters users
All NASA Enterprise Applications Competency Center Production (NEACC) Systems will be unavailable during this 72-hour maintenance window.
