Account Management of HQ Applications Now Performed in NAMS – April 20, 2009
Application and System Owners of the 85 applications that recently migrated to NAMS.
April 20, 2009
You are receiving this notice as the System or Application Owner for one or more HQ applications, as shown in the attached spreadsheet. (If you believe you have been incorrectly identified as an application or system owner, or if you wish to specify additional owners, please contact Tadd Buffington at (202) 552-2744.)
Effective immediately, all requests for new accounts, deactivations, or modifications to roles in most HQ applications will be processed in NASA's Account Management System (NAMS). NAMS is the Agency’s centralized system for requesting and maintaining accounts for NASA IT systems and applications. Previously, such requests were processed via Check In Check Out (CICO).
On a temporary basis, access requests for the following applications will still be processed in CICO:
- Business Impact Analysis for Network Computer Assets (BIANCA)
- Discrimination Complaint Management System (DCMS)
- Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS)
- ScienceWorks (Portal)
NAMS requests are e-mailed to the application/system owner for final approval after a business justification has been confirmed by a user’s supervisor (“Sponsor”). NAMS is part of the Identity Management and Account Exchange (IdMAX) toolset. You must have an active IdMAX account in order to respond to NAMS requests. If you need an IdMAX account go to https://idmax.nasa.gov and click on “First Time User.” If you already have an account, IdMAX will refer you to the “lost password” link. You will find detailed instructions for processing access requests in the NAMS FAQ’s document.
