NCAD Migration Begins January 12, 2008
NASA HQ IT POC’s
January 7, 2009
Phase I of the Headquarters’ migration to the new NASA Consolidated Active Directory (NCAD) begins Monday, January 12, 2008. Phase I consists of Windows users only. Macintosh users will be migrated during Phase II. Additional information on Phase II will be provided when available.
On Monday evening, computers in the MIC conference rooms will be migrated. Individual user migrations will follow beginning Tuesday, January 13. All migrations will occur after 6 p.m.
Users will be notified 3 days in advance of their migration date, and they will receive a reminder the day of their migration. The core message and action by users for a successful migration is to restart their computers and leave them powered-on the evening of migration. Occasionally, migration attempts fail. A leave-behind flyer will be left on users’ chairs to inform them if their migration was successful or not and to provide any instructions they may need.
IT POC’s will be kept informed of NCAD migrations. When a user in an organization you support is notified they are about to migrate, you will receive an FYI Notice (a forwarded copy of the communication sent to the user with an addressee list). The day following migration, you will receive a status report showing successful migrations as well as the names of those users who will require rescheduling. In an effort to minimize e-mail traffic, you will not receive FYI Notices related to the NCAD project that concern users outside the organizations you support.
Copies of all user communications concerning NCAD, a Frequently Asked Questions document, and a project summary are available on the NCAD@HQ Web page for your reference.
Should you need assistance, contact the IT Help Desk at 358-HELP (4357) or 1-866-4NASAHQ (462-7247) or send an e-mail.
