NASA Operational Messaging and Directory Service (NOMAD)
NOMAD offers an integrated email, task management, and calendar solution to Headquarters users and across the Agency. Users have the benefit of integrated features such as e-mail, calendar, to-do list, address book, and task management on the desktop via Outlook (for Windows), Entourage (for Macintosh), and IMAPS (for Linux/UNIX).
In addition, the NASA user community is able to access e-mail from anywhere via Outlook Web Access (OWA). A full feature set is available, including calendaring and directory lookup, for handheld devices (BlackBerry, Treo and Windows mobile devices). Finally, all NASA users are able to securely send Instant Messages (IM) to any other user on the NOMAD system via Windows Messenger for Windows users and Microsoft Messenger for Macintosh users
NOMAD Outreach
In order to improve communication for NOMAD-related activities and service interruptions, the NOMAD Outreach team will begin sending notices directly to end users. Previously, each Center was responsible for communicating NOMAD information using their own process. This new outreach plan is being implemented to:
- Notify NASA leaders and end users in a more timely manner
- Ensure consistency of notices to end users
- Improve outreach efficiency
- Make planned outage and activity information easier to find
- Improve communications with the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD)
For more information on the new NOMAD Outreach plan, visit the NOMAD Outreach Web page.
