AGENCY CONSOLIDATED END USER SERVICES (ACES) – HQ TRANSITION |
| |
What is ACES?
The new Agency Consolidated End-user Services (ACES) contract is one of five procurements under NASA’s IT Infrastructure Integration Program (I3P). ACES will provide a consolidated solution for delivering end-user services across the Agency to achieve increased efficiencies and reduced costs through standardization. Services include: provisioning and support of desktops, laptops, cell phones, personal digital assistants, printers, and office automation software. |

The NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) is the host Center for ACES. The ACES service provider is Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services (HPES). ACES replaces the Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA (ODIN) contract. The End-user Services Program Office is working with HPES to implement a smooth ODIN-to-ACES transition.
Contract Implementation
The ACES transition began at HQ in early May 2011. On November 1, the ACES contract was fully implemented and operational at HQ.
Transition across the Agency will be done in three waves. Each wave will have a phase-in/transition period (length depends on contract finalization) with a 2-month period between waves. HQ is considered a Wave 1 Center.
Enterprise Service Desk
The Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) is the single point of contact for end users to report incidents and order IT services. As an end user, you will identify your IT needs through the ACES Product Catalog (APC). The Enterprise Service Request System (ESRS) will be the single system for ordering services. You will access the system, select the proper approver, and place your IT service request. And then, you will be able to follow the status of your request online.

The Alpha and Beta testing for computer deployments has been completed, and the Early Deployment phase has begun. Approximately 150 users will receive new computers in December 2011 and January 2012. Following the Early Deployment phase, ACES will begin refreshing all computers at HQ.

MULTIFUNCTION DEVICES |

All Xerox Multifunction Devices (MFDs) with be replaced with equivalent (or higher capacity) models, except for those used by groups which will be moving to I Street offices. For those groups, the Xerox MFDs will remain and new MFDs will be ordered and installed at I Street before users move in.
Details for ACES printers and MFDs can be found on the MFD and Printer Quick Reference Guide.

NETWORK PRINTERS |
The ACES team will soon deploy replacements for 117 of HQ’s 169 shared network printers. The replacements are one-for-one based on feedback from IT POCs.
As network printers are replaced, ACES technicians will update drivers for all available users. Visit forms will be distributed to help all users obtain new drivers.
Network printers are being replaced with similar or better models, so most users will retain basic printing functionality to the new printers using their old drivers, until they can obtain new drivers.
To maximize NASA’s return on investment, Government Owned Printers will not be replaced at this time. Government owned printers will be replaced as they show signs of age, or upon your request.
Details for ACES printers and MFDs can be found on the MFD and Printer Quick Reference Guide.
